I get to eat out a lot for my job – more than 300 times a year in Dublin.
And while we've been sharing the best reviews, I thought I'd pick out the five stand-out dishes I've eaten this year so as you can try them too.
Each meal we all eat is personal and influenced by things like our mood and the weather which can help elevate the normal to a magical experience. Having said all of that, I'm pretty sure you couldn't fail but be happy eating any of these...
A steak for two people that was to die for. Served with chips, onions rings and slow cooked short rib beef this was perfection.
Grabbed one of these in Vice coffee and spent the next three weeks thinking about it.
Easily the best restaurant opening of the year. A simple menu and their fish is as good as I tasted.
Hardly a surprise given the popularity of this dish. I weaned myself off it and didn't eat it for six months – so the first visit back was like discovering the delicious taste and huge portions for the first time. Epic.
Sunday paper in hand. A good friend in tow and a huge roast dinner of beef for two with all the trimmings. Life doesn't get any better.
