Some things in this world just complement each other perfectly — think milk & cookies, coffee & cream, fried chicken & waffles — and this week there's a whole festival in Dublin dedicated to one such match made in heaven: oysters & stout.
Lovers of beer and fresh seafood alike are cordially invited to this celebration taking place at Johnnie Fox's pub in Glencullen, taking place in association with Kish Fish, until Sunday night.
The festivities will take place in the courtyard outside the pub, where you'll see the freshest Carlingford oysters being shucked by a chef in front of your very eyes. Naturally high in zinc and notorious natural aphrodisiacs, oysters are a culinary delight that everyone needs to experience at some point in their lives.
And don't worry if you're put off by the idea of raw seafood, guests who'd prefer theirs grilled will also be catered for.
Not that it's only oysters on offer, a special menu has been put together for the festival which includes a feast of fresh seafood.
Of course, all that delicious shellfish will need to be washed down by something, which is where the stout comes in. Guests will be invited to learn the art of pulling pints, so you'll even get the chance to pull your own!
And if you need the deal to be even sweeter, you can also expect competitions and giveaways to be taking place during the event.
Worried about how you'll make your way in and out of Glencullen? Well, don't! A bus will pick up festival goers every evening of the event from the city centre at 6.30pm and return them at 12.30pm (find out more about that HERE).
It'll be family-friendly fun during the day and serious shindig by night. There'll be live music from 9pm until late Wednesday to Friday and from 3pm on Saturday and Sunday.
The Oyster & Stout Mountain Feast is taking place from today until Sunday, November 5.
