It's Christmas and for some of us this means procuring thoughtful presents, those that show you remembered how Johnny loves the Ramones and Daniella likes those cute little tea cosies.
For the rest of us it means a mad dash on December 23rd at 5pm to BT's to buy a voucher.
But we have found a middle ground: wine.
Wine can show a bit of personality and thoughtfulness but thankfully our guide takes out all the hard work…

There's no point in a huge capital investment for someone you've only been dating a month, but equally if you have any chance of getting the shift on a permanent basis you've got to throw a few quid behind it. Make sure to throw out lines like 'reminiscent of a quality Chateauneuf-du-Pape' so they know you've put a few euro's into this (equally this may lead them to thinking you're a knob head.) For a champagne aficionado this is like they've won the lotto, married a supermodel, backed the winning horse and hit a 10 under par round all in one go.
You may want your best mate to feel like a million dollars, but the fact of the matter is you only just have enough cash in your account to see you through until pay day- all those 12 pubs add up. This bottle of bubbly holds your best mate's silence on all your nasty secrets a bit longer… Which is truly priceless.

You can try and be as creative as you want but the fact of the matter is that nothing will make your old man happier on Christmas than working his way through a case of fine wines. With a little bit of everything, it's like a selection box for grown ups.
