Smithfield Square appears to be getting a bit of a makeover at the moment...
Construction began yesterday on a colourful structure smackbang in the centre of the the square.
Fret not folks, an alien ship hasn't landed it's actually the latest project from Dublin artist, Maser. You're probably already familiar with some of Maser's work such as his "You are alive' piece just off Camden Street and 'Don't be afraid' mural in Portobello.

His most recent project is an interactive installation as part of this year's Bram Stoker Festival. Once the initial construction is completed the local community will be encouraged to collaborate on the project over the seven days of the festival.
Maser has done projects of this scale overseas in the U.S. and Australia, but this is his first time doing something like this in Dublin city.

It's kind of a contemporary haunted house based on the utopia that Dublin is. The outside is welcoming but inside will be completely interactive and filled with the sounds that we all hate to hear.

If the set up is anything to go by, this looks like it will be an absolutely amazing installation. It will open to the public at twilight on 23rd October and will remain open to the public for the duration of the festival - make sure you head on down!
