Brought to you by all four Dublin local authorities and supported by the Department of Housing.
A new scheme launched by Dublin City Council in conjunction with all local Dublin councils – Fingal County Council, South Dublin County Council and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council – is offering landlords and property owners a flexible, secure and financially attractive way to let residential properties.
The Dublin Pilot Scheme is an enhanced Rental Accommodation Scheme, and it's been designed specifically with landlords in mind. It offers Dublin landlords guaranteed monthly rent, long-term contracts and minimal hassle, and as a result, is a strong alternative to traditional private renting.
How does the RAS Dublin Pilot Scheme work?
Under the scheme, which is governed by the Residential Tenancies Act 2004, the landlord, tenant and local authority enter into a three-way agreement. The local authority pays rent directly to the landlord and nominates a tenant who has been assessed as having a long-term housing need. The landlord will then continue to manage the tenancy and maintain the property.
Who can avail of the scheme?
Landlords with vacant or available properties are eligible to take part in the scheme, and they must register the tenancy with the Residential Tenancies Board. Properties must be vacant or newly built, fully furnished and compliant with rental standards. Local authorities will carry out inspections to ensure that properties are suitable.
What are the key benefits of the RAS Dublin Pilot Scheme?
The RAS Dublin Pilot Scheme is an enhanced Rental Accommodation Scheme, led by Dublin City Council in partnership with Fingal County Council, South Dublin County Council, and Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council.
It is supported by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
