We did it, lads. We did it. Well, one of us did.
Our nearest neighbours will be waking up to massive hangovers this morning after England won the Cricket World Cup for the first time in history yesterday.
While it was *grits teeth* quite an admirable achievement, they couldn't have done it without Dublin's very own Eoin Morgan who captained the team to victory over New Zealand.
The 32-year-old joins Bobby Moore (football) and Martin Johnson (rugby) in the list of men who led England to victory in World Cups and at Rush Cricket Club in North Co. Dublin, they clearly haven't forgotten where it all began.
Yesterday, as Morgan and his teammates clinched victory, there were joyous scenes at the venue where people gathered to cheer on their local hero. An RTÉ news report last night captured the moment when Morgan's name entered the history books and while most parts of Ireland may not have been jumping for joy, a small part of Co. Dublin will remember the scenes for a long time.
