Home to the Guinness Storehouse, trendy café's, and stunning vintage shops, The Liberties has been dubbed the ‘Brooklyn of Dublin’.
Although The Liberties is one of Dublin’s most historic and character-filled neighbourhoods, over the past ten years it has been home to a modern resurgence with artsy bars, creative coffee shops and delicious dining options popping up all over.
CEO and founder of Quintessential Brands, Enzo Visone, commented on the area: "It’s gritty, creative, full of soul and right now, it’s buzzing with this new wave of energy that’s redefining what modern Irish identity looks like."
The Liberties was once an area outside Dublin city walls which residents moved to for tax exemptions, but despite it's expansion, its name still reflects the desire for freedom.
Amy Michelle, manager of Dudley's Bar on Thomas Street hit the nail on the head when she said:
“Unlike some neighborhoods in Dublin, the history of The Liberties doesn't become erased when new projects and buildings emerge—they kind of find their place amongst each other."

Just last year, Time Out named The Liberties one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world, citing its variety of food, culture, and accommodation.
"It may be one of Dublin's oldest neighbourhoods, but alongside medieval remnants and terraced houses, the Liberties is home to some of the hottest spots in town – from Argentinian bakeries (hello, Bakeology) to classic pubs", wrote Dublin-based Nicola Brady.
Additionally, it was announced just last week that Meath Street in The Liberties would be undergoing a major revamp.
The remodel will include new paving, improved pedestrian facilities, street trees, and landscaping designed to bolster traditional retail while creating space for cafes and markets.
So if you're looking for some weekend inspo, a look around The Liberties should definitely be on your list.
