This Dublin Woman Is Appealing For Repatriation Of Her Father – Here’s How You Can Help

The daughter of a homeless man that had been residing in Manchester, is pleading for help, both supportive and monetary, after her father was killed in a huge building fire in Chinatown.

Her father, James, was known within the homeless community as ‘Popeye’, and to friends and family as ‘Shea’. He died in the blaze on November 25 - alongside another man Wayne, who had been known as ‘Uncle Albert’.

It is believed that they had been sleeping rough inside the building.

James’ daughter Leighann Kay, who lives in Dublin, set up he GoFundMe page called ‘Bring James Home’.

She said the family want to bring his body back to Ireland to be buried, and need help to raise the €2,000 to do this. Thus far, they have raised €474.

Leighann wrote:

Sadly my father James aka Shea, also known in Manchester as ‘Popeye’, passed away in England. As all his family lives in Ireland we want him home, to bring him back we need the money upfront which is €2,000.

Unfortunately we haven’t got it so we’re appealing to anybody to please help if you can every donation is appreciated. Help spread the word!
