Plans for a massive redevelopment of urban village Phibsborough including a plan for construction on part of the grounds of Dalymount Park, have been submitted to Dublin City Council according to The Irish Times.
The €50,000,000 plan includes the building of apartments, office blocks, an eight storey tower block, and the upgrade of the 1960s Phibsborough shopping centre and tower block, given the nickname of 'the ugliest building in Dublin' by locals.
Reports are showing that developers plan to build upwards on the shopping centre site, with heights ranging from three to seven storeys. Locals should expect new shops, offices, restaurants and 340 student apartments.
The plans also include massive construction work in Phibsborough's Dalymount Park, requiring the East Terrace of the stadium to be torn down at Bohemian Football Club's home ground.
The stadium itself is not owned by Dublin City Council.
As well as this, a new civic space linking the highly-used Phibsborough Road to the North Circular Road, with allocated access to Dalymount Park, would also be created. This, according to reports, is expected to take up to two years to build.
