The Dangerous Reason Why You Should Never Charge Your Phone Or Laptop In Bed

Hands up who's guilty of charging their electrical devices in bed, all snuggled up with the cable snaking under the covers?

We're pretty sure a good 98% of the nation (including our shamefaced selves) do exactly that.

But a recent warning by Dublin Fire Brigade however, has made us change our ways and realise the serious potential dangers of charging phones or laptops near anything flammable.

They tweeted a thermal image of devices plugged into electrical sockets, demonstrating the shocking heat levels that they rise to, with the image in question showing the device at a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius.

The blurry white patch on the right of the device shows the heat left behind from it charging on a wooden table, so you can only imagine the danger of soft flammable materials heating up.

DFB recommend that people charge all devices on a hard or wooden surface.
