The Dáil committee has agreed to close shop a full week earlier than planned this year.
What was supposed to be a pre-winter finishing term day of December 23, has now been replaced with December 16 - however, those at power assure us that the same amount of parliamentary work will still take place.
The decision was made last Thursday by the cross-party business committee, in response to the decision in October to sit for two days during the mid-term break.
The existing Dáil schedule for this year was based on a 12-week working agenda from September to December, meaning the mid-term week sitting meant the original timetable was made redundant.
Therefore, the term finishing one week early brings the original schedule back in line.
Two days of work meaning a whole week off? This certainly has gotten us thinking about a potential career change...
