Roberta’s To Remain Open After Council Fire Case Adjourned

Newly-opened bar and terrace Roberts's is to remain open, after a judge adjourned a court case taken against the venue this week.

We wrote just a few weeks ago about how the Temple Bar restaurant had been taken to court by Dublin City Council in a row over fire safety.

While the Council claimed that the first-floor bar and restaurant did not comply with building regulations and fire safety codes, the venue insisted that it was compliant.

A fire officer, who was ordered to securely check the premises following the accusations, has since confirmed the building to be fire safe.

Following liaisons with The High Court and Dublin City Council, the Dublin 2 restaurant will remain open for business, with both parties set to partake a court-ordered mediation session. 

A statement on the case was released by owners Press-Up Entertainment Group earlier this week:

''The case of Dublin City Council –v The Workman’s Club Ltd t/a Roberta’s Bar and Restaurant was before the High Court today.  The case was adjourned by Judge Noonan to 31 July and he urged the parties to resolve their long running dispute by mediation. The Court noted that the fire officer had confirmed the premises to be fire safe in a Circuit Court licensing application on the 18th of May last.  He implicitly acknowledged that there was no urgency to the application today. The parties have now agreed settlement terms.  Roberta’s Bar and Restaurant remains and will continue to remain open for business. At this stage Roberta’s has now been verified as fire safe by four separate fire safety engineers over the past six weeks. Robertas takes the safety of its employees and customers as its number one priority and will continue to do so. "
