The Journal reports that residents at Portobello and Harold's Cross were apparently 'barricading roads' in order to protect the area from drinks urinating and leaving behind rubbish during the Bank Holiday weekend.
As images taken this morning reveal the shocking amount of rubbish and empty cans left behind, many on social media are lamenting the fact that the social revellers refused to clean up after themselves yet again.

Dublin City Councillor Chris Andrews told The Journal that local residents need to be safeguarded from the huge number of drinkers that sit alongside the canal during sunny weather.
Andrews said, “I know how much voluntary work goes in to keeping the canal clean and when the sun comes out many people think the neighbourhood is an open toilet.
"This area needs enforcement by the gardai and residents need to respect their community.
“I have put it on the agenda for the next Dublin City Council meeting and have also written to senior gardaí.”
A garda spokesperson however, has said that they had a successful policing operation at the canal and Barge Pub over the weekend and there was no incidents of note.
