People have been warned to stay away from the water at a popular north Dublin beach to avoid falling ill.
A temporary ‘Do Not Swim’ Advisory Notice has been issued by Fingal County Council due to fears of contamination following their latest tests on the water.
The council issued a statement about Front Strand Beach in Balbriggan on their Twitter account which read:
“Please be advised: Fingal County Council has issued a Temporary Advisory Notice in respect of swimming at Front Strand beach, Balbriggan for 72 hours due to suspected impacts from animals/birds or contaminated surface water catchment runoff.”

Visitors have been advised of the following precautions to avoid getting sick:
Avoid swallowing or splashing water.
Wash your hands before handling food.
Avoid swimming with an open cut or wound.
Avoid swimming if you are pregnant or have a weakened immune system.
The beach will remain open, though the council added:
“Beach users are asked to respect the advisory notice as it has been put in place to ensure that the health of bathers is not compromised.”
