PICS: Two Adorable Lemur Pups Have Been Born In Dublin Zoo And They’re Celebrating This Weekend

Your daily dose of cuteness has arrived my friends, and you've Dublin Zoo to thank for it.

They welcomed the birth of two squishy little red ruffed lemur pups, a brother and sister born in April to proud parents Pierre and Fifi, joining the troop of seven red ruffed lemurs.

To celebrate the new arrivals, Dublin Zoo are holding a special Lemur event this weekend from 12pm – 4pm for its Long Live Lemurs weekend.

Expect special lemur keeper talks, lemur themed arts and crafts, music and more, plus you get to ogle these cuties all day long.

The birth of the red ruffed lemur pups is extremely important for the team at Dublin Zoo and the international breeding programme, as the species is listed as being critically endangered after a significant decline in population mainly due to habitat loss and hunting.

The island of Madagascar has only 10% of its natural vegetation remaining, making lemurs the most threatened group of mammals on Earth.

Commenting on the latest additions, team leader Ciaran McMahon said; “Red ruffed lemurs are one of the most endangered of all lemurs. The birth of two youngsters at Dublin Zoo is hugely significant.

"We are delighted to report that our new arrivals are healthy and have adapted seamlessly to their surroundings. This weekend is the perfect opportunity for families and friends to learn more about these critically endangered species”.
