Commuters travelling on the Luas this morning were frustrated as ticket machines were unable to take card payments, meaning anyone who wanted to buy a ticket, or top up their leap card via card were unable to do so.
Both Luas tram lines were affected, leaving some commuters unable to buy tickets and top up their leap cards.
Payment machines at stations on the Red Line between Tallaght and The Point as well as stations on the Green Line between Sandyford and St Stephen’s Green have not been able to accept credit card payments since Wednesday evening.
This is due to a 'bug' in the system, according to the Irish Times.
Frustrated commuters tweeted at the Luas twitter account last night and earlier this morning.

Could you not have let passengers know that the ticket machines are not accepting card payments, so that people don’t drive there from Kildare to then realise they can’t actually buy a ticket and get on the tram?

Luas responded to the tweets saying: "Customers please be advised that clamping has been suspended at all Luas Park and Ride facilities for today the 9th of February 2018 due to a technical issue."
