We understand that venues have to come up with different promotions to get people in the door but in this day and age, when we see things like "no girls allowed" or "just for the guys", we tend to roll our eyes.
Why should we separate things like books, sport and games between men and women?
Yet, it still happens.
This advertisement for a 'lads night' in the city centre is causing a bit of a stir online, with several gamers calling out the venue on its exclusionary approach.
This particular event seems to have struck a chord as it focuses on the gaming community, which already has a reputation as being male-dominated.
Several female gamers expressed their frustration at the double standards they face when it comes to the hobby.

We reached out to Buskers On The Ball, who said that their intention was never to cause offence and the 'Lads Night' was arranged in conjunction with a female-focused event that was taking part in a different part of the venue on Thursday nights.
"We don't refuse entry to any genders for either night and welcome everyone to enjoy the fun and games at both venues!"
