People Are Being Warned About This New Text & Email Scam

If you get a text or email this week that seems a little too good to be true, it probably is.

The Revenue Commissioners have warned that a scam is currently operating whereby users receive an email, which appears to be from the organisation, relating to a tax refund.

Credit/debit card details are then requested to transfer the payment.

However, Revenue has confirmed that none of these messages were sent out by them and should be deleted immediately.

"The Revenue Commissioners never send emails or text messages requiring customers to send personal information via email, text or pop-up windows. Anyone who is actually awaiting a tax refund should contact their local Revenue Office to check its status," they said.

"Anyone who provided personal information in response to these fraudulent emails or text messages should contact their bank or credit card company immediately."
