One of the Dublin's busiest train stations will be closed for 13 weekends throughout the next two years while it undergoes works to get a new roof.
The Irish Independent reports that Pearse Station, which has had protective mesh netting under the roof for years as a safety measure, will begin to close for weekend repairs from August 2018.
Iarnród Éireann said that the works on the 130-year-old roof were "urgently required" as steel sections have begun to corrode, and that "its replacement has been identified as a crucial safety project."
During the weekends the station is closed, northside Dart, Maynooth and Drogheda services will operate out of Connolly Station, while southside Dart and Rosslare services will operate from Grand Canal Dock.
