MET Éireann Has Issued Two Weather Warnings For Snow And Ice

Ireland is set to hit Arctic lows this evening, with icy gales making things feel even colder. People should expect very cold and wintry weather, as well as gusts of up to 110km/h. Met Éireann has issued two weather warnings for the coming days. One of which is a status yellow, a weather warning in place for the whole island from 6pm this evening until 12pm on Saturday coming. A Met Éireann forecaster said:

"Very cold, wintry weather will develop from Wednesday night onwards. Showers will turn wintry in many places from Wednesday evening to Saturday, with falls of sleet and snow expected. The heaviest of the snow fall is most likely over Ulster, Connacht, north Leinster and west Munster and especially so on high ground."

Meanwhile a wind warning is in place for counties Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo, with winds being strongest in exposed coastal and hilly areas. This status yellow warning began at 10pm last night until 10am this morning. READ NEXT: PICS: This Unique Dublin 2 Gaff Couldn't Be In A Better Location
