On Saturday, July 29 - Malahide Rugby club will play host to a tag rugby tournament as a fundraiser for the ISPCC/Childline.
The ISPCC is Ireland’s national child protection charity and has a volunteer body in excess of 600 volunteers working in all parts of Ireland to support young people.
It gets the majority (80%) of its funding from public donations, so fundraisers such as these can really make a difference to their ability to keep providing services to children - and they want you to play tag rugby to your heart's content in order to help out some vulnerable children.
Sounds like a no-brainer, right?
The fundraiser itself promises to be a day of fun, with registration kicking off at 10:30am.
Registration fee is set at €120 per team (with an advised team number of about 10).
There will be a barbeque afterwards and the club bar will be open for those who want to either drown their sorrows or toast their victory.
Face painting will be available for any children (big or small).
The event will end around 4pm with an overall winning team being announced.
Event organiser Sarah Hughes told us about the importance of the day to the lives of children:
''This event aims to help raise funds for the ISPCC Childline service, which I've been a volunteer with for over 6 years. I've seen first hand the difference this service can make to the lives of young people. The event itself promises to be a fun day, with a bbq as well as access to the bar and facepainting for kids, not to mention the tag rugby tournament itself.''
