Here Are All The Luas Cross City Road Closures For This Weekend

The Luas Cross City Works are (finally) coming to a close, and to finish off the very last of the construction works, a number of roads will be closed until further notice. 

According to Dublin Live, the South Quays will be closed at O'Connell Bridge to traffic for eight days next month due to construction.

Major traffic disruption is expected in the city centre until the connecting tram's opening date in December.

Disruptions are also to be expected on Dublin city's North Quays. 

Here are the works and closures in full that will begin next Tuesday, August 1:

• There will be significant traffic disruption on the North and South quays on the approach to O’Connell Bridge beginning Tuesday 1 August.
• There will be full closure of the South Quays ONLY at O’Connell Bridge from 8pm on Friday August 4 until 6am on Saturday August 12. (At Aston Quay and Burgh Quay, full depth road reconstruction will be done to create new resurfaced carriageways. This is to replace the temporary road surfaces which have been in place during the construction stages of the project. In addition, there will be smaller works taking place on Bachelor’s Walk.)
• College Green will allow private cars access to the West of Dublin city for the duration of the quays’ closure.
• On the north-side, restrictions will be put in place on Bachelor’s Walk and Ormond Quay Upper.
• O’Connell Bridge will remain open to Northbound and Southbound traffic but westbound traffic will be diverted through D’Olier Street and College Green.

• The public transport corridor that exists on Dame Street will be opened up to all traffic for the duration of the works (travelling Southbound only).

• Traffic will be able to travel North from Westmoreland Street onto O’Connell Bridge but will not be able to turn left at the junction with Westmoreland Street and Aston Quay.
• If you are travelling through the city, traffic diversions will apply, delays are expected so please use alternative routes.
• If you are travelling to the city, access to car parks will be maintained.
