Gardaí Issue A Warning As Dublin Burglars Raid Nearly 40 Homes In The Past Month

Gardaí have issued a warning for homeowners to be extra vigilant after a gang believed to be from Dublin have burgled several homes in the past month. The gang are said to have stolen tens of thousands of euros in cash and jewellery since the beginning of October with up to 40 homes reported to have been robbed. Superintendent Mick Comyns from Mayfield Garda station in Cork has said that the burglaries in the area are from a Dublin gang who travel via the motorway. Speaking to The Irish Times he said, "Last Friday, for example, they did six break-ins here - all between 4pm and 9pm so they move very quickly. "They may be using local knowledge to scout out what homes are unoccupied but all the houses they are targeting are vacant at the time and they usually strike in the evening." The Superintendent has warned the public to lock up their homes and be vigilant for any suspicious activity in their area and to report it to their local Garda station. The gang have targeted many homes in Cork and more robberies have also been reported in the Laois area.
