Westmoreland Street stop 319 has been revealed as Dublin Bus’ 2025 busiest bus stop, with a total number of 1,249,983 passengers being picked up from the city centre bus stop.
This stop serves some of the city’s most frequently used routes, including the newly introduced E1, E2, F1, F2 and F3.
Approximately 164 million passengers were carried by Dublin Bus across 2025, an increase on its previous record of 159 million journeys, which was set in 2024.
This makes them Ireland’s largest public transport operator.
The busiest route of the year came in as the E1 which was launched on Sunday, January 26 of 2025. This 24 hour route, which runs between Ballywaltrim and Northwoon, carried about 7.5 million customers during its first year of service.
Dublin Bus also revealed they carry around 500,000 passengers across their network on a typical weekday.
Wednesday, October 8, was the company's busiest day of the year, with 568,000 customers utilising Dublin Bus services.
Dublin Bus now offers more than 130 routes across both the city and the Greater Dublin Area. This includes everything from Express routes to various Nitelink services.
2025 also saw Dublin Bus expand their 24-hour routes, which now number 15. Among them is the new 24-hour E spine. More than 11 million people used these routes between 10pm and 6am in 2025.
The uptake of passengers on these routes proves the importance of having these services in place for those who are either out socialising or who work evenings.
Dublin Bus has also noted that just over 10% of their fleet is now fully electric. This comes following the first rollout of electric buses by them in late 2023.
It’s not all good news.
The average speed of Dublin Buses at peak times on weekday mornings was a mere 13.5 km/h in October.
This news comes following a TomTom global congestion report, which placed Dublin as the 10th most congested city globally.
