Chaos In The Capital As Luas Strike Affects 90,000 Commuters – And There’s More To Come

You probably didn't need us to tell you this, but Dublin is in an absolute HOOP today.

It's all thanks to a Luas strike that's running all day today and tomorrow, forcing some 90,000 commuters off the trams and into their cars, on to the buses and trains, and into taxis.

And why? Well, because Luas staff are seeking pay increases of up to 53%, and averaging at 40%, over the next seven years.

This has caused something of a deadlock between Luas operator Transdev and SIPTU – and despite the attempted (desperate) interventions of Transport Minister and endangered election candidate Paschal Donohoe, there's no sign of a thaw.

And it's caused chaos...

Indeed. You don't throw an extra 90,000 people into an already-crowded system and expect to get away with it.
