Dublin City Could Get A Fancy New Eight-Story Hotel With A Mezzanine Restaurant

Ooooh, Dublin 7 is really becoming the city's up-and-coming place to be.

Deadly new places have been popping up in Smithfield and Stoneybatter the last few years, and the latest news for development in the area is an eight-story hotel with 249 bedrooms - pretty slick.

Planning permission for the hotel was submitted to Dublin City Council after the site near the Four Courts was bought for €8 million early this year.

The River House on Chancery Street (aka the old motor tax building) has been lying vacant for a decade, and the plan states that it will be demolished and then rebuilt for the hotel.

An outdoor terrace, gym, and restaurant

Proposed features for the hotel include an independent cafe/restaurant unit at ground floor and mezzanine level, and a gym area in the basement.

There'll also be a (non-accessible unfortunately) 2nd floor outdoor terrace area for guests to look down upon. Seems nice right?

No decision has been made on the planning permission proposal just yet, but local councilors have said they're in favour of it going ahead, so it's looking fairly promising.

Sounds like there'll be a great new spot for a fancy afternoon cocktail soon enough, nice one.
