Traffic was brought to a standstill in the city centre this afternoon as an Extinction Rebellion demonstration took place on O'Connell Bridge.
For five minutes, protesters staged a 'die-in' to highlight 'those on the front line of climate change who are suffering the most.'

Before that, a kayak race made its way down Westmoreland Street, something that Extinction Rebellion says will become a reality if action isn't taken.

This afternoon, Lord Mayor Paul McAuliffe will meet with activists at their Merrion Square 'rebel camp' to discuss their demands. This will be followed by an Extinction Rebellion Children's March from Merrion Square to the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.
Extinction Rebellion set up camp in the city centre on Monday, joining activists in about 60 other cities across the world for a week of protests.
