Here’s All You Need To Know About Tonight’s Dublin Homecoming

Yeah, yeah we know. "Homecoming? They won't have far to go!"

Good one, Dad.

Granted, walking from Croke Park to Smithfield would take just over half an hour but let's not get bogged down in small details as the victorious Dublin football team prepare to celebrate a historic four-in-a-row which has only been achieved previously by Wexford (1915-1918), Kerry (1929-1932) and Kerry again (1978-1981.)

Dubs fans will get a chance to show their appreciation to the players and coaching team this evening and if you fancy going along, here's what you need to know.

Where is it taking place?

The successful Dublin team will be greeting fans on Monday evening at a civic reception held in Smithfield Plaza.

What time should we be there?

The event is due to get underway at 6.30pm.

We we be allowed bring a big bag of cans to toast the lads?

Afraid not. The public reception is described as 'a family-friendly and alcohol-free event.'

How can we get there?

All the usual public transport systems will get you to the venue but commuters should note that Smithfield Luas Stop may be closed between 6pm and 8pm. The Four Courts and Museum Luas Stops will remain open during this time.

We know, there were enough transport issues when the Pope was here but we reckon most Dubliners will allow a small bit of disruption this evening given the day that's in it.

The question now is, will the Dubs be back next year celebrating an unprecedented five-in-a-row? Given how they made light work of Tyrone yesterday after an early scare, the answer is yes, probably.
