Hard to believe we’re into the second week of November already. I feel as if I blinked once and October was over, and if I blink again it will be Christmas Eve.
Time flies when you’re having fun as they say. And that I have been.
People often make the mistake of thinking that come the winter months, everyone goes into hibernation and there’s nothing on, nowhere to go and nothing to do.
Well, my friends, I’m here to tell you that you’re sadly mistaken.
Yes, it is colder and darker but there is still plenty on to take your mind off the changing weather. The best way to combat the lack of sun, in my experience, is to put on your woollies and keep busy.

Dublin Book Festival
One of the city’s most successful and vibrant book festivals, it showcases the best of the Irish publishing world. Taking place at Smock Alley Theatre and other venues around Dublin, activities throughout the four-day event (November 14th-17th) include story writing workshops, walking tours, live readings and literary discussions.

Themed Tour: Plants of the Rainforest
The weekly tour of the greenhouses at the National Botanic Garden allows visitors to learn more about the tropical plants that make up the rainforest ecosystem.

Silent Disco Adventure in Dublin
An alternative, music-filled way to see the city. Silent Adventures take groups “on a journey of song and dance through the famous streets of Dublin”. Talkatives
Not your typical poetry reading, but rather a rhythm and poetry slam. Nine hand-picked individuals go head to head in a classic poetry slam style competition. No music, no props, no reading and contestants will be judged on their flow, content and delivery. Taking place in Workman’s Club this Sunday at 6pm.

Ballet Ireland presents Swan Lake
Running until the 16th of November, there’s thankfully still time to nab a last-minute
ticket to Swan Lake at the Gaiety Theatre.
