The May bank holiday means it's nearly summer at last.
Another bank holiday approaches, and we've got a ton of events you may be interested in checking out over your three-day weekend. Dublin will be teeming with events and activities, from a D8 beer festival, and charity fundraisers to a kid-friendly rave like no other.
If you're lacking some bank holiday weekend plans, we've got nine events that are bound to keep you amused:
9. Dinos Alive
Location: Unit 9B, Artane Place
One for any dino-crazy kids or adults, this immersive experience brings you face-to-face with the dinosaurs that dominated the animal world for 140 million years. Interact with life-sized, moving animatronics from the turkey-sized Velociraptors to the mighty T-rex. You'll be stepping into a different world with this exhibition, running until Monday 27th May.
8. Pallas for Palestine
Location: The Bank at the Digital Hub (Thomas Street)
Artists with studios at the Pallas Projects are joining forces to do a fundraising exhibition for Palestine from 1st May until 4th May. You can nab work from the likes of Marian Balfe, Susan Buttner, Robin Carey, Dominique Crowley, Mark Cullen, Karen Ebbs, Lana May Fleming, Andrej Getman, Leann Herlihy, Steffi Kelly, Barbara Knezevic, Gillian Lawler, Dave Madigan, Ronan McCrea, Emma McKeagney, Sean Molloy, Gavin Murphy, Irene O’Neil, Leda Scully, Kym Tracey, Catherine Ward, Eve Woods, while raising money for a well-needed cause.
7. Happy Days Beer & Food Festival
Location: Rascals
Whether you're into tasty Irish-brewed beers, or just love a food festival, you're going to want to bop along to this class Inchicore event over the May Bank Holiday weekend. A one-stop-shop that brings together some of Dublin's best brewers and food trucks like Pitt Bros and Dietmar's Pretzels, Dot's Homemade Hot Dogs, Fuppin Delish, Bites by Kwanghi for a weekend-long event,
Rascals Brewing Company's annual Happy Days Beer & Food Festival makes its triumphant return this weekend.
6. Ska Festival
Location: Whelan's
If you need your top of Ska for the weekend that's in it, Whelan's will be the place to be. For two days, the iconic venue will be transformed into Dublin's only ska festival, which will play host to the likes of Close DJs, Riff Raff, The Skalps and loads more.
5. Gigs
Location: Index
Freshly minted as one of Europe's best nightclubs, Index has been beating out an incredible line-up of events which have breathed new life into the stagnating Dublin club scene. They have a chockablock line-up across the weekend of incredible electro DJs from Fatima Hajji to Evan McVicar, head to their IG for ticketing info and availability.
4. Kidsyard Family Rave
Location: The Bernard Shaw
Calling all retired ravers and formerly prestigious parents, The Bernard Shaw will be hosting an inclusive rave on Sunday, 5 May. These unique events allow all members of the family to pop along and jive to their heart's content, from the funcles to the grannys, everyone is welcome.
3. Halfway-To-Halloween Alternative Party
Location: Fibber Magees
To some the May bank holiday may signal the coming of Summer and all it's possibilities, to others it signals that Halloween is fast approaching. This Saturday, Fibbers will be transformed into a haunted fancy dress party, with prizes for the best dressed, spooky cocktails and scary movies on blast.
2. Food for Thought @ Charlotte Quay
Location: Charlotte Quay, Ringsend Road
The latest in the food for thought series in aid of 3ts(turn the tide of suicide) is happening this Spring/Summer with some of Ireland's best chefs sharpening their knives and getting the temperatures up in Charlotte Quay kitchen. With Holmstead Cottage's Robbie mccauley, Goldie Restaurant's Aishling Moore, Lignum's Danny Africano, Ashford Castle's Andrew Ryan and more involved, this night is going to be well worth the €100pp price tag.

Nothing spells bank holidays quite like a Mother party, coming at you hot on Sunday, May 5th for a queer bank holiday special. Join Mother DJs Rocky T Delgado, Ruth Kavanagh & Ghostboy across the main room & library all night long.
