Creamy, Delicious Irish Coffee That Will Seriously Impress Your Mates

There's something incredibly indulgent about an Irish Coffee.

Maybe it's the fact that we normally only have one after a fancy meal or that it's essentially a dessert AND a drink, but it's one of our favourite treats once the colder evenings start rolling in.

While it may look tricky, whipping one of these up at home is quite straightforward and will seriously impress if you're having guests over.

Instructions

Step 1

Start by heating your sugar in a large saucepan. Opinions are divided over the role of sugar in an Irish Coffee but the muscavado adds a really nice richness to this recipe.

Step 2

Next up, add two tablespoons of water to the saucepan and bring to the boil.

Step 3

It's time for the golden ingredient! Turn off the heat and add your whiskey to the saucepan. Stir through until it combines with the sugar mix.

Step 4

Introduce your coffee to the saucepan and continue to stir. Pour the mix into a glass.

Step 5

Lightly whip your cream and then add on top of the coffee.Our experts tell us that the key to the perfect Irish Coffee is making sure that the liquid is hot and the cream is cold so keep it in the fridge until you need it!

Step 6

Garnish with some grated nutmeg and enjoy!
