Steak and Wine Lovers – Here’s Where You Should Have Dinner This Weekend

Dublin diners are moving away from the city centre and towards the water. 

Grand Canal Dock has been the big player in the 'Water Quarter' up until recently, with spots like The Marker's Brasserie and Charlotte Quay drawing visitors in their droves. 

But there's something stirring in George's Dock of late. Ruby's Bar & Grill recently opened at the Point Square, and the CHQ building has injected new life into the area for young professionals with disposable cash and a big appetite. 

That's where the newly refurbished Ely Bar & Grill comes in. It may be right at the centre of the trendy hub - but there's nothing faddy about this spot. 

The produce is delivered straight from the family farm in The Burren Co. Clare, and owner Erik Robson can talk you through every moment of your dinner's journey from farm to plate.

Steak is the star of the menu, with six different cuts available, dry-aged for 28 days on the organic farm. 

I'd advise steak-lovers to stick to the á la carte menu, but for those less pushed the Christmas set dinner is a treat.

For me, chicken liver paté, the 'torched' cod and cheese plate to finish. Heaven for €35.
