A new book featuring 100 Irish and International artists sharing their combined love of food and art will go on sale for charity this week.
Syrias Vibes will launch The Artist’s Cookbook with an event in one of Dublin’s coolest spaces – Airbnb’s European Headquarters. The initiative aims to help raise funds to support displaced people in Syria and Iraq. This unique book (believed to be a first of its kind around the world) features 100 Irish and International artists sharing a creative recipe and artwork to illustrate it.
The launch takes place on Friday, August 18 from 7pm at Airbnb's European Headquarters at Grand Canal Dock in Dublin, followed by an after party in nearby Charlotte Quay.
Funds raised from the launch will go towards the Psychology Support Programme in the Bajed Kandala IDP camp in Iraq and to support the doctors and ambulances at Heyva Sor a Kurd (or The Kurdish Red Crescent), who are now on the front line at Raqqa in Syria. The Psychology Support Programme ensures women and children – all survivors of the Yazidi genocide of 2014 – receive regular therapy, medication and support.
Admission to the launch of The Artist’s Cookbook is free and guests in attendance will get a copy of the book.
At the launch, Airbnb’s top chefs will provide a selection of delicious canapes, with plenty of music and refreshments including wine and beer from Rascals Brewing Co. A raffle is also planned with prizes including some of the original art from the book, such as a Pato Cassinoni painting worth €1,500, vouchers from some of Dublin’s most popular restaurants including Charlotte Quay, Coppinger Row and Dublin Pizza Co, plus limited-edition artworks and Syrias Vibes T-shirts.
Keen to get your hands on the book ahead of time?
The Artist’s Cookbook is available to pre-order from www.scoopfoundation.com for €24.99 (RRP €29.99) and includes book, post and packaging and a donation to the Syrias Vibes campaign.
