The Replies To This Denmark Fan Looking For Pre-Drinks In Dublin Would Make You Proud To Be Irish

Republic Of Ireland football fans have always had reputation for being a friendly bunch to say the least. We don't qualify for major tournaments very often but when we do we travel with a spring in our step and a song in our hearts and this was never more evident than during Euro 2016 in France last summer.

Obviously our reputation precedes us as one Denmark supporter has taken to Reddit to enquire about finding some drinking buddies in Dublin before the crucial World Cup play-off second leg between the two nations on November 14.

A person going by the username atease writes:

"We're 5 lads (age 30-34) popping by for the world cup decider Tuesday November 14 and we'd love to share a few drinks and maybe even a laugh with some locals.

"Incidentally, we're also going to the home game in Copenhagen Saturday prior. So if you happen to be going to both games, we'd love to be your hosts for a similar cultural exchange here in our lovely capital."

After being told that Slattery's Pub in Beggar's Bush would be a good bet to soak up some atmosphere, he tentatively went on:

"Noted. Although when we went to London for an absolutely pointless England v Denmark friendly a few years back, we were denied access to a few pubs on the grounds of "supporting the away team". It was cold, it was a friendly and there were five of us."

He soon found out that Ireland fans are a far cry from our often aggressive English counterparts and the invitations to share a few pints started to roll in.

"We're not the Brits, you'll be grand and welcomed with open arms so don't worry. If the likes of the Welsh and Austrians had no issues getting in and mixing with us I cant see you guys having any problems."

"Pick any pub mate. This isn't England, you and yours will be welcome in any pub in Dublin. The craic will be great around the stadium so just find the nearest bar. You won't be refused."

"Slatterys has already been mentioned, but Ryans and The Square Ball are also great. Also, don't know if theres much need in organising to meet up with anyone, people in the pubs will most likely start a conversation with you anyway."

It looks like the original poster won't have any trouble finding a few folks to mix with before the game. He's even offered to return the favour for the first leg in Copenhagen.

"Cheers, my friend. I can only say the same about you and you lot here in Copenhagen. If you're ever here looking for nice drinking hole or just local recommendations feel free to give us a ping."

Judging by this response, him and his mates are sure to fit in just fine.
