DART Passengers Threatened In ‘Unprecedented And Terrifying’ Attack By Graffiti Artists

A dozen people caused €4,000 worth of damage on Tuesday night after storming a DART train armed with blocks of wood, the Irish Times reports.

The gang entered the train at Clongriffin station in North Dublin at around 10.30pm and began to threaten passengers while spray-painting the carriage. Irish Rail has described the incident as 'unprecedented' while one eyewitness told the publication that there seemed to be rival gangs involved:

'There was about 20 of them and they were all wearing balaclavas. They had knives and sticks and started fighting each other. It looked like two gangs who were fighting over who’d spray paint the train - it was unbelievable and terrifying.'

Irish Rail said that the attack 'exposes the lie that graffiti vandals are engaged in some sort of artistic endeavour.'

Gardaí are investigating the incident.
