Anti-Drone Technology In Place For Pope Visit In Case Of Air Attack

This is turning into an episode of Inspector Gadget.

Anti-drone technology will be in place for the Pope's visit this weekend because officials want to make sure the Pope isn't attacked from the air.

According to Independent.ie, the security measures are being put in place following a drone-led assassination attempt on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro earlier this month.

Strict no-fly zones have been put in place around both Phoenix Park and Croke Park.

Gardaí are also reportedly wary of a drone falling into the crowds if it gets out of the operator's control.

The special technology includes computer and radio frequency scanning systems which allows any drones flying illegally to be taken over by security personnel and landed safely.

If that doesn't work, a net will be dropped over the drone to ground it.
