Who knew that table tennis wasn't for the faint-hearted? If there's one thing we learn every time we watch competitive ping pong, it's that there's a lot of tension – and power – behind those little bats.
If watching the action from Rio has you in the mood to pick up your own bat, we've got your guide to where to play in Dublin – and you're in luck!
The season starts again in September, so you've got just enough time to get a few weeks' practice in first...
PingZone offers a wide variety of membership options, as well as coaching, both for juniors and adults who are just beginners to the sport.
You'll be taught by table tennis champions, and once you've got the hang of things you can even join the league.
It's one of the oldest table tennis clubs in Dublin, and meets every Monday night at 8pm – welcoming both beginners and more advanced members.
But be warned: the club plays in the United Churches Table-Tennis League, so might not be a great shout for the avowed Atheists among you.
Part of Leinster Cricket Club, LTTC members can play at the club on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights, and Sunday afternoons. It even has – wait for it – a table tennis robot, with different programmes to help you improve your game.

This is a junior club, so kids-only, but a great one if you're planning on getting the nippers into some non-contact sport. It's €35 per month, with two table tennis nights a week, but that drops to €50 per month if you've two siblings enrolled.
