6 Reasons You Need To Check Out The Vodafone Comedy Festival This Weekend

If you've no plans for the weekend, (actually even if you do, cancel 'em) then you've just got to check out the Vodafone Comedy Festival in the ultra pretty Iveagh Gardens.

With this year’s festival set to be the biggest one yet with over one hundred acclaimed acts from Ireland and around the world set to grace the stage, it's well worth a look-see.

Buy any ticket for any comedian's show, and the ticket will be your festival pass for the entire day to hang out in the gardens and see even more comedy at the free Laughter Lab tent. Simple.

Here's X reasons why you should pop down over the next few days...

1. There's top notch Irish comedians

With heavy hitters like Dara O’Briain and Tommy Tiernan, Al Porter, David O’Doherty, Katherine Lynch, PJ Gallagher, Maeve Higgins, Jason Byrne, Neil Delamare, Deirdre O’Kane, Barry Murphy and Foil, Arms & Hog and Alison Spittle, why wouldn't you check it out?

2. And a slick line up of international jokesters too...

One of the biggest hits of last year, Rory Scovel, returns to the Iveagh Gardens with his biggest special yet just about to premiere on Netflix, Rory Scovel Tries Stand-Up Comedy For the First Time, and T.J Miller makes his Dublin debut, not only with his solo stand-up set but also bringing his acclaimed sketch troupe Heavyweight.

There's also Saturday Night Live writer Anna Drezen, and a lot, lot more.

3. Tomorrow is perfect weather to flake out in the gardens

Seeing as how your ticket enables you access to the gardens and all the food stalls for the day, it makes sense to get down early, grab a beer and see some free comedy before your preferred show. And look: SUN.

The fantastic Laughter Lab is where you need to settle yourself in between acts. There's the The Alison Spittle Show with Tommy Tiernan and Radie Peat, an Improv Comedy Show, and a whole heap of gas characters.

The wonderfully bizarre Horsebox Theatre will be there again this year in all its Victorian splendor and the legendary Turning Pirate folks will be entertaining you alll weekend with their kaleidoscopic troupe of musicians and street entertainers.

6. It's a great night out that won't break the bank
