Portugal is well-known for its sprawling beaches and amazing port wine, but did you know they do some pretty decent tapas as well? The best part is you don't even have to go there to try them.
Galito is a Portuguese-inspired tapas restaurant on the main street in Bray and if you're looking to spread your wings of an upcoming evening, it's well worth a trip on the DART.
I was there over the bank holiday weekend and sampled a menu that covers the usual stuff like patatas bravas and paella. All of that was delicious, but it was the larger dishes like the peri peri chicken and pork belly that really satisfied the tastebuds.
There were four of us at the table and with reasonable prices, we ordered two dishes each. Somebody went for the salada tropical and found it to be a fine vegetarian option, while meat lovers will enjoy the chorizo with toasted bread, shredded beef, and meatballs, among plenty of other choices.
The restaurant itself can't be missed with plenty of buses passing by and the DART station just a few minutes away by foot. The atmosphere is very laid-back, helped by the pleasant and accommodating staff, and if you manage to get a seat by the window you'll be able to watch the world go by as you get stuck into your meal.
There's also a fine selection of wine and while my request for a draft beer was met with a "no", there were enough bottled options to keep me happy. One of our party was impressed with the mojito and there were a few more cocktails on the menu that would go down well with your dinner.
Galito comes highly recommended and with it being such a short distance from Dublin, it's definitely one to try for a date night or an evening with friends.
