Popular Dublin Seaside Suburb To Face ‘Ice Cream’ Drought Today

Howth village, aka the only place to be on a scorcher of a day like today, could be facing an ice cream drought due to power cuts.

The Irish Times reports that businesses in the seaside area have been warned of planned outages between 9am and 5pm today, with some affected businesses saying they will be forced to close because of it.

The manager of Ann’s of Howth at the East Pier, a prime ice-cream spot, told The Irish Times that “it kills me to close but we have no other option.”

“Obviously ice-cream won’t keep, but our coffee machine won’t work either. This is the sort of business where you have to make hay when the sun shines, and we could be down €2,500, if it’s a day like today", he added.

With ice-cream the true joy of a sunny day in Dublin, whatever will the people of Howth do without a 99 and a flake?
