A New ‘Superpub’ Is Coming To One Of Dublin’s Best Nightlife Areas

A new 'superpub' on Harcourt Street has been approved despite initial objections from Dublin City Council and a planning inspector.

As first reported by The Times Ireland, a number of buildings on the corner of Harcourt Street and Montague street will be transformed into a pub and restaurant.

Dublin City Council opposed the project saying there was an over-concentration of pubs in the area. It was eventually decided that the new pub would only stay open until 11pm. 

Perfect for drinks before you venture out to Coppers or Diceys.

Another 'superpub' on Camden Street was given the green light last year by an Bord Pleanála despite objections.

The €4 million Wetherspoons development at Camden Hall will also include a 98- bedroom hotel. 

Locals raised concerns that the 'superpub' would further “alcoholise Camden Street”, due to its already high number of pubs, restaurants and cafés. 

A spokesperson for Wetherspoons said at the time that construction would start "sooner rather than later."
