Fans of Thai food in Malahide will have to go elsewhere as popular takeaway restaurant The Bangkok Thai has closed its doors for good.
The establishment, located on Townyard Lane in Malahide, announced that it was shutting down over the weekend although the reason for the closure has not been revealed.
After two decades of service, The Bangkok Thai confirmed to Lovin Dublin that the business would close its doors on Sunday and regular customers are devastated by the news.
A post on the Enjoy Malahide Facebook page reads: "GOODBYE: We’re sad to hear that Bangkok Thai on Townyard Lane day a closing. Tomorrow will be the last day for this wonderful family business after 20 years of serving Malahide."
While no reason was given for the decision to close, the owners of The Bangkok Thai rejected suggestions that the small business was struggling and hadn't appealed for help.
In response to the Facebook post announcing the closure, several Bangkok Thai regulars expressed their sadness about having to find a new takeaway of choice.
"So sorry to hear this..my favourite takeaway in village. Sad news," wrote one.
Another added: "So sorry to see them close.. always beautiful food and always seemed to be busy."
