How would you fancy floating down the Liffey on a rubber dinghy, equipped with a bag of cans to see you through the day – and accompanied by thousands of others doing the same?
Or if that's not your bag, what about a 'Netflix and Chill' festival in the Phoenix Park? Or a D4 vs D8 water fight in Merrion Square – or perhaps, you could throw a birthday flash mob for a Dublin Bus driver?
Hell, even if you don't fancy doing any of these things – if you're too busy watching the Euros, maybe, or if you're just in the mood for a bit of peace and quiet – you can at least take solace from the fact that you live in a city where such weird and wonderful events take place on the regular.
These are just a few examples of the recent fad of creating unusual, yet compelling fake events on Facebook pages, then racking up thousands of attendees for God-knows-what sort of nefarious purposes.

Or when there were movies on the beach in 'Dublin, Dublin Ireland D1' – I can imagine there were many lost souls wandering the beaches of Dublin on that August evening.
Well, a little bit, yes.
Like, in what world would a Liffey 'float' call on people to bring underwater cameras? This is the 'Black Pool' we're talking about here.
But maybe it tells us something about Dublin. Maybe we're crying out for novelty – something to break the habits and patterns of the days. We've got Happenings, we've got street parties and festivals by the dozen, so we're not exactly short on inspo.
But if anyone out there fancies turning any of these madcap events into reality... well, we're all ears.
