Gone are the days when the humble Irish were afraid to wear anything that made them stand out. This week, Dubliners dressed to be heard, embracing summer’s bold colours and prints in the loudest shades possible. Rocking eye-catching accessories, brightly-blocked separates and head-to-toe eclectic hues, Dublin rocked colour loud and proud. If you want to splash some summer into your wardrobe, but don’t know where to start, then follow Opsh’s guide below to finding the best colours to suit your skin tone.

Finding The Best Colours To Suit You

1. Identifying Your Skintone

There are two types of skin tone: cool and warm. This has nothing to do with being pale or tanned; your skin tone refers to the underlying natural shade of pink, yellow or blue tones that cannot be changed by fake tan. This tone ultimately decides what colour looks best on you and what shades will wash you out completely.

The best way to figure out your underlying tone is to stand outside in natural daylight and look at the veins that line your wrist with your hand palm-side up. Green veins indicate a warm, yellow-based skin tone, whilst purple/blue veins mean you have a rosy pink or blue cool skin tone.

For another way to test your skin tone, rest silver and gold bracelets across your wrist palm-side up. Gold will highlight the natural yellow hue in warm skin tones, while silver will complement blue-hued skin tones. Once you’ve identified the colour that best suits you, try to work within a colour palette best suited to your skin tone.

• If you have a cool skin tone, like Robert Pattinson, Nicole Kidman or Kristen Stewart, then stick to a palette of blues, greens, pinks and purples. Instead of making the mistake of trying to ‘’warm up’’ your complexion with warm colours, these shades - particularly those with a pink rather than a beige or yellow base - will actually enhance the natural pink in your own skin. Your best bet is sticking to strong shades of cobalt blue, navy, khaki, coral, burgundy and deep purple.

• If you have a warm skin tone, like Jennifer Aniston, Leonardo Di Caprio or David Beckham, then choose shades with red, orange and yellow influences, as well as yellow-based pinks and all shades of brown, beige, gold and camel.
