It's easy to get bogged down in the daily grind and miss the stories that are going on around us – but fear not, you won't be left out of the loop in the pub tonight thanks to our handy guide to this week's hot topics.
How the hell did we get here? Why, in 2015, are we in a situation where pubs are forced to close and restaurants are forced to take alcohol off the menu because of the arbitrary rules of a religious organisation?

In short, Iran has agreed to begin winding down its nuclear weapon production in return for the easing of sanctions – and while the extreme nationalists there are hopping mad about what they say is a massive compromise to national security (because, you know, they definitely needed nukes to defend themselves), there have been widespread celebrations on the streets of Iran.
