This week the DSPCA have once again sent on details of a few of the beautiful animals up for adoption at their shelter in Rathfarnham. The DSPCA do incredible work taking care of these animals, but they need loving homes to go to. If you're thinking of getting a pet, make sure to visit their shelter and meet all the amazing characters they have there from dogs to cats, gerbils to donkies and reptiles to birds.
1. Darwin
My name is Darwin and I’m a 1-2 year old Norwegian Elkhound cross. I’m a very handsome man with a thick fluffy coat. I’m very friendly and I get on well with other dogs. I’m an active chap who will need lots of exercise. I would be best suited to a home with teenagers or an adult only home. An experienced large dog owner would be ideal. I’m a strong boy and I playbite a little, but I am just being a naughty teenager! Come visit me in the shelter and see how gorgeous I am!
2. Zita
My name is Zita and I’m a cute 2 year old Lurcher. I’m a typical Lurcher. I love to sprint and play with my friends, but I equally love to snooze on the couch! I kind of look like a giant Jack Russell and I’m just as fun! I get on well with most other dogs. I was found wandering around all alone and I didn’t feel very well at all. I was very sick when I came to the shelter but I’ve made a wonderful recovery because of all the love and care from staff and volunteers. Come visit me at the shelter and say hello! You might even see me in the enrichment area playing with my friends!
3. Flora
My name is Flora and I’m a 1 year old Golden Labrador. I came to the DSPCA because I was found wandering all alone with my friend Faith (who will be up for adoption soon). I’m an active girl with lots of energy. I love people but I am not so keen on other dogs. My new owners would need to work on these issues with me, but they are definitely something that can be improved. I’m a typical Lab; a complete love sponge. I love being petted! I’m good with older kids. I’m not great on the lead, I’m used to being let roam around, so training is a must. If my new owners put the work into me, they will be greatly rewarded. I will be a wonderful family dog with a few months of training!
4. Cody
My name is Cody and I’m a 1.5 year old Rottweiler. I came to the DSPCA because my owner’s circumstances changed and it was safer for my sister and I to find new homes. I’m a very sweet boy and I’m a bit more chilled out than my sister Zara (who is also looking for a loving home). I love nothing more than snoozing on the sofa. I would be a great pet for a family with children 16+. I need a home with no other dogs, but I do get on well with most other dogs I meet. I would be great at training classes - I would do anything for a treat! I would not suit living with cats. Come visit me at the shelter and say hello!
5. Millie
My name is Millie and I’m a 3 year girl with the most beautiful black coat. I have one tiny white patch under my chin which is my ‘beauty spot”. I have 3 legs but that doesn’t stop me having just as much fun as my 4 legged friends. I love cuddles and to be treated like a princess. In no time I’ll have you wrapped around my little paw.
6. Daphne
My name is Daphne and I’m a 2.5 year old girl with a soft medium-length tabby coat. As you can see from my photo, I’m a very pretty girl. I was found roaming the streets of Dublin by a kind member of the public who brought me to the vets for a check up and then dropped me to the DSPCA to find a forever home. I know I won’t be here long...I have the sweetest face you’ve ever seen... one look and you won’t be able to get me out of your head!
7. Millhouse
My name is Millhouse and I’m 8/10 years old. I was found abandoned and left by the side of the road with no food or shelter. I’m one of the lucky ones as I was rescued by the DSPCA inspectors and taken back to the shelter for veterinary care. I’ve been at the shelter for nearly 2 years now and as much as I love it here I’d love to find a new home. They call me “Cheeky Millhouse”... hmmm, I wonder why? I’m a little character who’s always willing to except a cuddle!
