It's easy to get bogged down in the daily grind and miss the stories that are going on around us – but fear not! Thanks to our handy guide to this week's hot topics, you'll never be left out of the loop.
TV3's political editor came out as a gay woman in an article in yesterday's Irish Times – and she did it in a way that was more moving, more touching and more powerful than any of the many, many things that have been committed to paper over the course of this campaign.
With less than a week to go before the vote, this is the sort of story that could carry a lot of 'maybe' voters into the 'Yes' side – and if you haven't read it, it's absolutely compulsive reading ahead of any conversation you have about the referendum tonight.

Staying on the theme of the referendum, albeit carrying a slightly different tone, was this cartoon from Martin’s Life.
The animated series, which focuses on the frustrations of the title character as he deals with his well-intentioned but clueless parents, constantly hits the nail on the head with every instalment – and this one is no exception.
Absolutely perfect.
The Liverpool legend plays his last game in Anfield today, after an absolutely epic career that reached its zenith 10 years ago on Monday week – when he led the Reds to perhaps the most famous Champions League Final win of all time against Milan in Istanbul.
So in honour of one of those players whom you have to respect even if you can’t stand the sight of a Liverpool crest, here’s the wavey-armed celebration that will be associated with him forever – and a night of football that no fan will ever, ever forget.
Because what could be funnier than only to then present the show’s presenter in drag.
Some joke, you guys. Some joke indeed.
“Bono fell off the stage… he got too close to The Edge”
It’s one of the oldest and worst jokes out there, but earlier this week it nearly came to fruition – only it wasn’t U2’s frontman who took the tumble, but The Edge himself, sparking a whole raft of other, even worse puns.
