Capital Collective – What Has Been The Scariest Moment In Your Life?

Do you ever find yourself in a cafe or pub overhearing the most crazy stories at the table next to you? We'll never stop being surprised by the situations Irish people tend to get themselves into. And we'll never stop being curious (or downright nosy) about the lives of those around us.

We decided to collect the craziness every week by putting a question to the capital and seeing what they come back with. This week we decided to kick things off with the question "what has the scariest moment in your life been?" and were surprised by some of the answers that we got back below... Some are sweet and some are in fact down right scary!

Simon Gynn, 34, Cornwall

I was on Holiday in Tunisia with some friends and we went for a camel ride in the Sahara Desert, when suddenly we were surrounded by a group of masked men with knives on motorbikes and the guides just ran away. They took everything of value which we had, phones, wallets and my camera.

I'll never forget when I was five or six years old and got separated from my mother on Moore street, I was lost in the middle of town and screamed the place down!

I was on the waltzers in Bettystown races and it was spinning really, really fast! My friend got sick and I was very scared.

Elizabeth Purdy Willekens, 54, Mount Merrion

I was working on an oil rig in Harstad, Northern Norway and I was doing a safety and security course. I was to find and extinguish a fire in a pitch dark three story metal building. I was in a very heavy full safety suit and when it when it was my turn to put out the fire, I panicked and became claustrophobic and started banging down the walls to get out.

I'm too scared to answer the question because I'm so boring and nothing ever scary has happened me. (Elizabeth on left)

I was in France and went paragliding, I had to jump off a mountain; it takes a lot of guts to willingly throw yourself off a mountain. (Hannah on right)
