This Deadly New Smithfield Bar And Restaurant Is All Your 80s Dreams Come True

It's hard to keep up with the food scene in the Smithfield/Stoneybatter area these days, with new coffee shops and restaurants seemingly popping up every few weeks.

However, it's pretty obvious from the exterior of latest addition Gutterball that it is offering something a bit different.

Set up by Donal Cahill of the popular My Meat Wagon, the front of the premises is inspired by an 80s bowling alley and serves meatball hoagies (or subs, to me and you) from 10am to midnight seven days a week.

At the rear of the building, behind a large fridge door, is Thundercut Alley, a dive bar that specialises in tasty woodfired flatbreads and signature cocktails.

The bar opens from 5.30pm between Tuesday and Friday and 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.

All of the cocktails on the menu have been specially created for Thundercut Alley by their in-house mixologists and, with most priced around €10 a pop, they're definitely on the more affordable end of the scale.

Our favourite thing about the venue is that both spaces are inspired by all things 80s, with a ton of quirky touches like a rubber ducky ceiling in the bathroom, a Street Fighter arcade machine and some very cool graffiti.

A great addition to one of our fave areas of the city!
