This Artist Crafts Dublin Shop Fronts Out Of Paper And They Are Adorable

With its serious stationery boom, 2015 was definitely the year of the paper revival (and people said it was dead!) and one Dublin-based artist is capitalising on our love of all things printed by "combining all things paper with all things Ireland."

Jess Rooney Dean creates illustrated paper cut-outs of iconic Irish shop, pub and salon fronts – and has thus far immortalised a lot of our favourites, including 147 Deli, Legit Coffee and The Happy Pear, as well as Elephant & Castle (go for the wings, not for the speedy sit-down...).

Jess, whose day job is as a designer at Daintree Paper, studied visual communication in DIT and only graduated last year. @PaperIreland came about after a college project making a map proved more fulfilling than previously thought. "I decided to take it further and mix it with my love of paper," says Jess.

She'll fashion her paper creations to order, and says that most of her orders are of old Irish pubs, which people buy for their homes. "Sometimes friends or partners of the owners of cute independent places will come to me for commissions, as surprise presents," she says. A framed, mounted and signed original piece will set you back €55, while all of the designs featured on her @paperireland Instagram account are available as prints, for €17.
